What's Coming to the 2014 Toyota Sienna?
Fans of minivans at our Highland area Toyota dealership are already getting excited for the 2014 Toyota Sienna, even though it's still a ways off. Here at Toyota of Merrillville, we scour news and rumors sources for information on all upcoming vehicles so that we can keep you better informed. While official news on the new Sienna is virtually nonexistent, there have been rumors floating around that we can work with.
Our knowledge of the history of the Sienna should put us in a unique position to comment on the vehicle's future when looking at some of these rumors, so read on if you're curious what we think will be coming to this masterful minivan in 2014.
A Potential Model Refresh
The current generation of Sienna began with the 2011 model year, and that means that we are due for a mid-generation refresh soon. With the rumors about a potential hybrid Sienna coming about, now would be the perfect time to give a slight exterior and interior revamp to distinguish a 2014 model from the rest.
The 2013 Sienna, when you factor in different seating configurations, was available in 11 different variations. Even discounting the differences between the 7 and 8 seat versions, that's still 6 different trim levels. While this is one way of giving drivers quite a bit to choose from, it's also a way of overloading them with choices.
It wouldn't surprise us if the basic Sienna L was dropped or renamed so that the current Sienna LE becomes the standard model. Not only would this put more technology and comfort features in the basic Sienna, but it would also clean up the trim level variations nicely.
We already touched on the idea of bringing high-end technology down to lower trim levels, which tends to happen in a new model year, and we would like to see either the navigation system or DVD entertainment system become a standard feature. Both of these technologies are pretty essential to family vehicles and would make for nice selling points.
With impeccable safety features and a reliable engine under the hood, we don't expect too much else to change for 2014.
